What follows is the kind of evening that doesn't fit into a calendar invite — operators comparing notes on what is actually working. Honest answers, not the polished version saved for stage.
Drinks, poured properly
Arrive, hand over the coat, meet the room. No lanyards, no name-badge small talk — introductions happen at the table.
Dinner is served, seats assigned
One long table. The seating plan is deliberate — the founder next to the CFO next to the head of digital who solved their exact problem last year.
The conversation finds its level
Pricing tests gone sideways, retention curves that flattened, the warehouse move that quietly saved the year. Off the record, by default.
It runs until it runs out
No hard stop. The best exchanges tend to happen after dessert — we keep the room until the conversation is done with it.
Every seat
earns its place.
We curate the room the way you'd curate a board. Every seat is filled with someone owning a P&L, a brand, or a digital function in Manchester's retail economy. No press, no agencies, no observers — and nothing said at the table is shared, attributed or repeated.
