On Wednesday the 8th March, the four category winners from Retail Recharged met at Microsoft’s offices in London, to compete for the title of ‘Breakthrough Innovation of the Year’.
The finalists included technology innovations from Divido, Yoobic and DriftRock*. Each presented their value proposition to a panel of judges made up of senior experts in retail in a series of 1-2-1 interviews. The judges included: Amy Thom, Marketing Director at GAP, Camilla Nightingale, Consultant at Holbrook Digital, and James Davey, Multi-channel Consultant at Rich Insight.
The judging criteria included: how relevant the solution was to current retail challenges, its ability to address a real need, tangible return on investment, differentiation and clarity of offering, the strategic product roadmap, and the ability for the solution to be adopted successfully by a retail business.
With each of the finalists already having won the vote of the 200+ retail audience at Retail Recharged, the competition was tough. The judging panel was impressed with the strength of the innovations and felt that all three delivered something unique.
Amy Thom, Marketing Director at GAP, commented, ‘With such a strong list of finalists, selecting a winner was far from straightforward. All three of these solutions deliver real value to retail and online businesses and will be successful in their own rights. It was a great event and a pleasure to be part of the judging panel.”
After convening to review the scores that each judge had given the finalists, Divido was announced as the 2017 Breakthrough Innovation of the Year, and Chris Holloman, CEO, was presented with the two prizes from Innovation Sponsor, Microsoft, and event partner, JC Decaux.
Camilla Nightingale, Multichannel Consultant at Holbrook Digital Consultancy, also commented, ‘Great to get the opportunity connect with innovation that will make a difference in retail. All three finalist offered something unique and much needed in business. Divido stood out for us for its simplicity of offer for retailer and customer, obvious ability to generate ROI quickly, and breadth of application across sectors.’
Microsoft’s prize included $120,000 of Azure Cloud services, in addition to 5 free Office 365 accounts and other technical services. Microsoft will also work with Divido to identify suitable contacts across the Microsoft ecosystem, creating valuable relationships with industry experts, account managers, customers and partners, as well as providing technical support and expertise.”
JC Decaux’s prize included a bespoke home advertising campaign to a value of £2.5K with free design and branding for the campaign by its teams of in-house creative and strategists.
Divido were presented with the prizes by Gemma Shaylor, UK Startup Audience Manager, and Michelle Langelaan, Marketing Manager.
